Mercy Clinic Earns $5,000 Grant from AAFP
The Mercy Clinic has received a $5,000 Family Medicine Cares USA grant from American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. The funds will be used towards the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the clinic. We are truly grateful for this grant that helps us to better provide for the medical needs of adults in our area.
Mercy Clinic is one of many free health clinics nationwide that will benefit from grants provided by a signature program of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation called Family Medicine Cares USA.
The AAFP Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Family Physicians whose mission is to advance the values of Family Medicine by promoting humanitarian, educational and scientific initiatives that improve the health of all people.
These needs exist for the purpose of serving our neighbors. 2020 Vision is our road map to meeting these needs better by the year 2020.
Central to 2020 Vision is expanding our capacity and services from two nights a week to five days a week. In order to achieve this goal, a new, state-of-the-art facility is required to meet anticipated increases in patient demand. Our new home will allow us to meet current and future needs for our 76110 patients as well as expand services to adjacent zip codes.
On May 1, friends, volunteers, and members of our board gather at the Hemphill property site to dedicate the new property. Volunteers, friends, and staff come out to the dedication of the new property.
Our mission is to show the love and compassion of Jesus to our neighbors in Fort Worth. In addition to employing a full-time executive director, Mercy Clinic will also employ a full-time counselor-evangelist to minister to our patients. These positions are vital to ensure that our patients receive adequate and consistent physical, mental, social, and spiritual care.

Meet Donnie Smith.
The smiling face you often see on the front porch of Mercy Clinic has been with Mercy Clinic since the beginning. Donnie was integral in the planning, demolition and remodel of the current home of Mercy Clinic.
Donnie is a native of Dallas, a graduate of Baylor University, and a local Fort Worth attorney. Donnie is married to Michele and they have three adult children. During football season, you’ll find him officiating high school games all over the metroplex. He easily admits that one receives more than one gives when volunteering on the security detail. Sure, there are the occasional speeding cars in the parking lot, but Donnie receives joy as he sees burdens lifted off the patients of the clinic. He can see it in their faces. The difference in demeanor between 4:30PM as patients wait on the porch until they are departing with helpful information, instruction from the doctors and nurses, and a prescription is very noticeable.
Donnie’s claim to fame here is his devotion to maintaining our building from the destructive habits of the squirrels. He will be happy to relay a story-just ask him about the squirrels. If you would like to know more about volunteering, check out mercy-clinic.org/volunteers or pull up a chair next to Donnie and ask if he needs any help with squirrel control!
Everyone here at Mercy Clinic volunteers their time to serve the south Fort Worth community. Health care providers are only a small part of team. We need your help, too!
Are you a health care provider interested in serving the 76110 community in your capacity as a health care provider? We have flexible volunteer opportunities available.
Mercy Clinic of Fort Worth exists to show Christ' love and compassion to the under served population in the community
